How do I prepare for my pet session?
If you have a pet that requires professional grooming, consider the timing of your session. Most haircuts look best a week after they've been done! Brushed hair or fur, trimmed nails, and clear eyes will always help your pet look like they're at their best!
Bring along your pet's favourite treats and toys for the shoot! Food and toys are great motivators, and can make for some entertaining shots.
What do I wear for the session?
Most importantly-wear something comfortable! If you plan to be in some of the images, dark, solid colours are slimming and classic. Saturated colours tend to take over the image and may reflect colours on the face, so neutral colours tend to be best. Avoid logos, or patterned clothing. Long sleeves and high necklines can offer a slimming effect. Coordinate with the people (or pets!) who will be in the session so there are no harsh colour combinations. Above all, wear clothes you love, that fit well, and suits you!
If you do not plan on being in the photos, remember to dress for the weather!
Help! What happens if my dog is not reliable off-leash, or misbehaves?
We are happy to spend time helping your pet acclimate and accomplish the photo you're after. All it takes is one good shot! Accommodations for fenced areas will depend on the event.
I have a special request - can you help accommodate it?
This really depends on the request! If you let us know what you're looking for before the session, it's usually easier to accommodate special requests at that time.
What if the weather is poor?
We will contact you as the session approaches if we need to reschedule. A weather-related rescheduling will not affect your deposit.
What if I have to cancel?
Cancellations will result in a forfeit of your deposit. In case of sickness, or injury, the deposit can be used to reschedule once.
Can I use your photos to advertise? What about contests?
We are happy to produce a commercial contract for an additional fee. This includes contests, advertising, and any published works. Please contact us to discuss the use. Fees are based on type of image, what it will be used for, where it will be used, the duration of its use, and other related factors.
Can I share your photos on social media?
Shares are definitely welcome, as long as they are not for commercial purposes! Make sure to share directly from the page, or tag Paws Button Photography in your post! Please do not crop watermarks off of photos.
How long will it take to receive our photographs?
It typically takes about two weeks to edit photos. This timing can vary, especially around holidays, and we do our best to get images to you as soon as possible.
Can we receive unedited photos?
We never send out unedited images from a session. You wouldn't ask a painter for incomplete work! We want to help you remember the very best version of your pet. Please also do not edit, crop, or alter the images! If you are sharing a web image on social media, you can 'skip cropping' and set thumbnails while maintaining the original photo for viewers.
Images are also shot in a RAW format, which requires special software to view. This format allows us to do an array of things, and to provide high-resolution images for prints.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us!
